28.08.2010. The organizers of Audi MedCup’s penultimate event of the year were able to stage two races today – windward-leeward and coastal. Synergy was 7th in both and saved 8th position overall in regatta’s TP52 standings.
The first race of the day was windward-leeward. Synergy started slowly but then the Russian Team recovered, gained a couple of positions and finished at 7th place. Emirates Team New Zealand triumphed in this one and started a very good day for themselves.
Then the organizers staged coastal race. The wind speed was about 15-22 knots, and these conditions suited well for ETNZ. And it was a roller-coaster for Synergy. The Russians lead at the first mark, then moved to 9th place and recovered to finish at 7th. Emirates Team New Zealand won the coastal and re-establish as the regatta’s leader.
Tomorrow it’s three races planned. Sunday is the last day of the event. Synergy still holds 8th place in regatta’s classification and has a good chance to move up a little bit.
